DuPey, owner of The DuPey Team with Pillar To Post® Home Inspectors in Southeastern Pennsylvania, has been named the company’s 2025 Franchise Business Owner of the Year, an honor recognizing outstanding overall performance based on sales, growth, AJS improvement, and contribution to the brand. The award was presented at the company’s 2026 annual conference.
For DuPey, the recognition reflects more than strong business results. It marks a journey defined by perseverance, long-term team building, and the ability to adapt and grow through some of the toughest conditions the home inspection industry has faced in recent years.
DuPey and his wife, Theresa, purchased an existing Pillar To Post business in 2012. At the time, the company had two inspectors and one administrative staff member. Over the years, they built it into a 14-person operation serving Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties, while also performing inspections in Philadelphia and New Jersey.
Before entering the home inspection industry, DuPey spent more than 30 years in the food industry in sales, marketing, and general management. His career included leadership roles with multinational companies developing ingredients for food processing across food service, industry, and retail channels. That experience helped prepare him to lead a multi-million-dollar business, but his path as a franchise owner was far from easy.

Just months after buying the business, DuPey suffered a major injury after falling from a ladder during an inspection and breaking his back. During his recovery, he remained committed to growing the business, with Theresa helping him stay connected to local real estate professionals and clients as he recovered.
“Looking back, there have been moments where it would have been easy to step back,” said DuPey. “But we believed in the business, believed in our team, and just kept going. This award is really a reflection of that shared effort.”
The business saw steady growth from 2012 through 2020, but the pandemic-era housing market created major headwinds for home inspectors. In DuPey’s market, intense competition for homes led many buyers to waive inspections altogether. From 2020 to 2023, the business declined sharply as waived inspections became increasingly common.
Rather than pull back, DuPey and his team stayed visible in the market. They continued educating agents and clients, strengthened their service experience, and kept emphasizing the long-term value of inspections, even in a fast-moving sellers’ market. That persistence helped position the business for recovery, with moderate growth in 2024 followed by a significant increase in 2025.
Today, The DuPey Team is known for its thorough inspections, strong client communication, and ability to manage a wide range of homes, including many older and historically significant properties common throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. In some cases, the team sends multiple inspectors to large or complex homes to ensure a timely, high-quality experience for buyers and sellers.
DuPey also has been a strong advocate for MarketReady pre-listing inspections, which he sees as a crucial tool for transparency and smoother transactions in a competitive housing market. He says the company’s growth has been driven by consistently delivering a great experience to both clients and real estate professionals, along with building trust through strong reviews, education, and service.
“We are there to help people understand the home they are buying and to give them confidence,” DuPey said. “Our job is not to alarm them. It is to educate them, explain what matters, and help them move forward with the right information.”
At the end of 2025, DuPey expanded further by acquiring another Pillar To Post franchise, adding to a year that also brought one of the company’s highest honors.
He is quick to share credit for the recognition, thanking Pillar To Post leadership, fellow franchise owners, corporate support staff, and his local team. He also credits Theresa for her encouragement and partnership throughout the journey.
“This has been a shared story from the beginning,” he said. “Our team has carried us through the last several years, and this award belongs to them every bit as much as it belongs to me.”
