Michael’s Glass Shares Tips to Safeguard Glass Tables During Philly Winters & Summers
Philadelphia, PA

Glass tables are a popular design choice across Philadelphia, but the city’s changing seasons can affect them in ways many property owners do not immediately notice. Michael’s Glass Co. is offering practical guidance for protecting glass furnishings as temperatures shift from freezing winters to humid summers.
Philadelphia weather does not stay neutral for long. Winter often brings damp air, sudden cold snaps, and heavy use of indoor heating systems. Summer introduces long stretches of heat and direct sunlight, especially in rooms with large windows or rooftop exposure. Over time, these environmental changes can influence both glass surfaces and the frames that support them.
How Seasonal Shifts Impact Glass and Supporting Materials
Glass itself is durable, but it reacts to temperature changes. When outdoor cold meets indoor heat, surfaces can expand and contract. That movement is subtle, yet repeated cycles may add stress to mounting points or surrounding materials. Tables placed near exterior doors or drafty windows are particularly exposed to these fluctuations.
During summer months, sunlight can warm glass quickly, especially in the afternoon. While this does not automatically cause damage, prolonged exposure may affect finishes, adhesives, or wooden bases paired with glass tops. Rooms that trap heat can intensify this effect.
Adjusting placement can make a difference. Moving a table a few feet away from a vent or rotating it out of direct sunlight may reduce seasonal strain without changing the look of a room.
Maintenance That Makes a Practical Difference
Routine attention tends to go further than occasional deep cleaning. A quick check of hardware every few months can reveal loose fasteners or worn pads before they create imbalance. Even minor instability can place uneven pressure on a glass top.
Cleaning methods also influence long-term appearance. Abrasive pads and harsh chemicals can dull clarity over time. Instead, soft microfiber cloths and gentle cleaners help preserve a smooth finish. Applying cleaner to the cloth rather than directly onto the glass offers more control and prevents excess liquid from reaching edges or seams.
Simple protective habits add another layer of care. Coasters and placemats guard against heat and moisture rings. Felt pads beneath decorative objects help distribute weight more evenly. These steps are small, but they reduce friction and surface wear.
Moving, Storage, and Damage Concerns
Glass tables are often relocated during renovations or seasonal rearranging. When possible, separating the glass from its base before moving lowers the risk of edge damage. Carrying larger pieces with two people instead of dragging them across the flooring can prevent unnecessary stress on the corners.
If storage becomes necessary, keeping glass upright in a dry, climate-controlled space is recommended. Protective padding between surfaces prevents contact damage, particularly when multiple pieces are stored together.
Chips and cracks should not be ignored. While small imperfections may appear minor, deeper fractures can weaken structural integrity. Consulting experienced glass professionals helps property owners determine whether repair or replacement is the safer option.
“At Michael’s Glass, we’ve seen how quickly seasonal wear can catch people off guard,” said Ravi Kosuri, owner of Michael’s Glass Co. “A few preventative steps throughout the year can help protect both the beauty and safety of glass tables.”
Local Experience and Community Recognition
Michael’s Glass Co. has served homeowners and businesses throughout the Philadelphia area for years, working on installations, repairs, and custom glass projects. In 2023, the company was recognized as a Neighborhood Faves winner, reflecting strong support from the local community.
As Philadelphia continues to experience pronounced seasonal contrasts, thoughtful care can help preserve interior furnishings without major adjustments or expense.

Marc Copani, the former WWE Superstar best known as Muhammad Hassan, is putting the lessons behind an extraordinary second act into Wrestling with Adversity: How to Deal with Life’s Challenges. The 240-page book is available for pre-order now through Barnes & Noble and Amazon ahead of its October 8 release from G&D Media. The official book trailer is now available to watch on Instagram.

In his early 20s, Copani went from WWE’s Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental system to national television, quickly becoming one of the company’s most talked-about villains and appearing opposite Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, John Cena and The Undertaker. His run ended abruptly in 2005 after a controversial SmackDown storyline collided with the London bombings. The rise, backlash and aftermath were revisited in the 2025 Dark Side of the Ring season finale, “Becoming Muhammad Hassan.”
Copani uses that experience as the starting point, then focuses on what came next: returning to college, building a new career as a history teacher and school administrator and learning to see adversity as a beginning rather than an end. He now serves as Director of Human Resources for the Fulton City School District in New York. Through his story, the book offers steps to help readers change their perspective, move through disappointment and begin building again.
“When wrestling ended, I had to figure out who I was without the future I had planned for myself,” said Copani. “Wrestling with Adversity is about changing the way you see disappointment, taking the next step and realizing that one ending does not get to decide the rest of your life.”
The book has already earned praise from nine-time world champion Chris Jericho, who writes that Copani “used the lessons he learned in pro wrestling (both good and bad) to rebuild & restructure his life.”
Wrestling with Adversity: How to Deal with Life’s Challenges is listed in paperback, eBook and audiobook formats. Follow Marc Copani on X and Instagram.
ABOUT MARC COPANI:
Marc Copani is an author, educator and retired professional wrestler best known for portraying Muhammad Hassan, one of WWE’s most talked-about villains of the mid-2000s. Born and raised in the Syracuse, New York area, he trained in Ohio Valley Wrestling, then WWE’s developmental territory, where he performed as Mark Magnus and held the OVW Heavyweight Championship before debuting as Hassan on Monday Night Raw in December 2004.

Copani’s rise on WWE television was fast, placing him opposite such headliners as Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, John Cena and The Undertaker. His run ended abruptly in 2005 after a controversial SmackDown storyline aired on the day of the London bombings and the Muhammad Hassan character was removed from television. Two decades later, Copani revisited the experience in “Becoming Muhammad Hassan,” the Season 6 finale of VICE TV’s Dark Side of the Ring.
After leaving WWE, Copani returned to college and built a second career in public education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in adolescent education and social studies, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a certificate of advanced studies in educational leadership from SUNY Oswego. He went on to work as a world history teacher, assistant principal and junior high school principal and currently serves as Director of Human Resources for the Fulton City School District. His path from the ring to school leadership now informs Wrestling with Adversity: How to Deal with Life’s Challenges, his new personal-growth book arriving October 8, 2026 from G&D Media.

Phoenix, AZ, September 18, 2026
Senior care has long been built around responding to incidents after they happen. Helpany is working to change that equation by giving care teams earlier insight into changes in resident well-being, mobility and fall risk, all without cameras or microphones. At the center of all three recognitions is one achievement: United Zion achieved zero falls. That work has earned Helpany and United Zion three honors at the 16th annual McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards.

Helpany’s AI- and radar-powered care platform, and its work with United Zion Retirement Community received Gold in Fall Prevention, Silver in Creative Use of AI, and Bronze in Quality. The McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards recognize innovations across senior living, skilled nursing and home care that improve safety, operations and quality of life. Gold, Silver and Bronze winners across 14 categories were selected by an independent panel of 24 long-term care stakeholders.
“We are incredibly proud to partner with forward-thinking communities like United Zion that are willing to challenge what is possible in senior care,” said Sandro Cilurzo, CEO and Co-Founder of Helpany. “By embracing a proactive approach to care, United Zion is setting a new benchmark for the industry and demonstrating what care can look like. Their achievement shows what is possible when strong care teams are empowered by AI and share a common ambition to improve resident outcomes.”
Falls remain the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and older, with more than 14 million older adults—or approximately one in four—reporting a fall each year, according to the CDC.
Helpany addresses this challenge with Paul, its AI- and radar-powered device designed to help care teams recognize risk earlier. Installed on the ceiling of a resident’s apartment, Paul continuously analyzes individual movement patterns without cameras or microphones, including changes in gait and mobility, sleep, bathroom frequency and sedentary behavior. Helpany’s AI identifies meaningful changes and conditions that may indicate a resident is at increased risk and flags them for the care team. This gives caregivers actionable insights to investigate potential concerns and intervene earlier—while preserving residents’ privacy, dignity and independence.
The results at United Zion Retirement Community, the first senior living community in Pennsylvania to implement Helpany, demonstrate the potential of that approach. The results showed a clear month-over-month progression. Falls declined meaningfully in January, improved further in February, and by March, United Zion had reduced falls by more than 80% compared with the 2025 baseline. Then, in April, the community reached a milestone that once seemed almost impossible: zero falls. Across the four-month period, United Zion achieved an overall 70% reduction in falls—demonstrating the impact of moving from reacting to incidents to proactively identifying and addressing risk.
Helpany’s AI-powered service plan assessment also found that 1 in 3 care plans required realignment, meaning documented care levels no longer fully reflected residents’ evolving needs and risks. With greater insights into residents’ day-to-day patterns, care teams can adjust support earlier and help ensure each resident receives the appropriate level of care at the appropriate time.
For United Zion, the technology has become part of a broader effort to use objective resident insights to strengthen care decisions while preserving residents’ privacy, dignity, and independence.
Meaningful results across Helpany communities include:
-
United Zion Retirement Community: Achieved zero falls in April 2026, following a month-over-month improvement that included a more than 80% reduction in March compared with the 2025 baseline. Across the four-month period, falls were reduced by approximately 70%, while insights from Helpany contributed to the realignment of one in three care plans.
-
Fellowship Square Mesa: Increased resident presence in memory care from 92.9% to 97.0%, representing approximately 270 additional resident days per year and an estimated $78,000+ in annual ALTCS/Medicaid savings by helping residents spend fewer days in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.
-
Glencroft Center for Modern Aging – Sarah’s Place: Recorded zero nighttime falls for three consecutive months across its 24-unit memory care neighborhood, alongside more than 250 proactive interventions.
-
Arroyo Gardens: Achieved a 64% reduction in total falls, zero fall-related 911 calls, and a 57% reduction in general injuries after implementing Helpany across its senior living community.
-
Across Helpany communities: Proactive care has contributed to up to 80% fewer 911 calls and up to 22% more caregiver time available, helping care teams focus their time where residents need it most.
The recent recognition comes as Helpany continues to grow nationally, supporting senior living providers across Arizona, Pennsylvania, Texas and Georgia. The company also recently expanded its leadership team.
“Technology should strengthen human care, not complicate it,” Cilurzo said. “Our goal is to give caregivers more time, more clarity and more confidence to do what they do best: care for people. These awards reinforce that proactive, privacy-first AI can help shape a safer and more dignified future for senior living.”
