Published

on

MyFintech Week 2025 (4~7 August) spotlights the forces reshaping the financial sector – digitalisation, sustainability and demographic shifts. Emerging technologies such as generative AI and blockchain are transforming business models and redefining consumer expectations. Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions is also driving demand for innovative financial solutions. In addition, the challenges posed by an ageing population stress the need for inclusive policies in long-term welfare, healthcare and social protection.

Reflecting these realities, MyFW 2025 is structured around three thematic tracks. From closed-door dialogues to expert-led masterclasses and in-depth focus sessions, these themes form the week’s conversations:

  1. ‘Finance for the Future’ focuses on building a digitally enabled and forward-looking financial system;
  2. ‘Finance for Change’ supports sustainability and social impact; and
  3. ‘Finance for a Resilient Ecosystem’ aims to strengthen financial system resilience.

Held at Sasana Kijang and AICB Centre of Excellence, MyFW 2025 is co-organised by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB), Fintech Association of Malaysia (FAOM) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). The event brings together regulators, financial institutions, digital banks, fintech innovators, technology providers, policymakers, investors and academia for bold conversations, practical insights and regional alignment.

The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II. “The financial sector must play a more active role in shaping outcomes that matter to society in the years ahead, supporting these new growth areas, broader entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as fostering economic resilience and social mobility,” he said during his Special Address.

The event started with a series of high-level keynotes exploring innovation, inclusion and regulatory clarity. In his opening remarks, BNM Governor Dato’ Sri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour outlined the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of finance, which requires a whole-of-ecosystem solution. “The future we are building demands that policymakers, regulators, technologists, investors and innovators sit at the same table,” he said.

The flagship panel session, “Navigating the Fintech Frontier: Bridging Innovation and Regulation”, gathered central bank governors and financial regulators from across the region. Moderated by Erik Feyen, Head of Global Macro-financial Monitoring at the World Bank, the panel featured Dato’ Sri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi, Executive Chairman of SC, Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and Chia Der Jiun, Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The discussion focused on balancing innovation with consumer trust and the growing need for cross-border collaboration to ensure coherent, future-ready policy frameworks.

“Regulatory clarity is essential for fostering responsible innovation, but equally important is the ability to stay agile. Our experience with crypto asset regulation highlights the need for an iterative approach to address fast-paced innovation and market evolution,” Dato’ Faiz said.

“We are advancing the next iteration of our approach to digital assets to build a stronger regulated market, boosting competitiveness, resilience, and investor protection. Through regulatory support and ecosystem partnership, we are also facilitating blockchain use cases like bond tokenisation to broaden retail access and democratise wealth creation.”

The conference features an exciting lineup of sessions on topics including open finance, digital assets and sustainable finance. Participants can also look forward to focused sessions delivered by key partners and industry experts, which will provide in-depth exploration of issues, such as asset tokenisation, generative AI and cybersecurity resilience.

Global Kratom Coalition Supports Lafayette County Metro Narcotics’ Call to Target Concentrated Synthetic Opioids

WASHINGTON, D.C.Coalition supports the call for Mississippi lawmakers to align state law with the recent federal scheduling of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl(MGPI), MGM-15 & MGM-16 and the imminent scheduling of concentrated synthetic 7-OH.

Coalition supports the call for Mississippi lawmakers to align state law with the recent federal scheduling of mitragynine pseudoindoxyl(MGPI), MGM-15 & MGM-16 and the imminent scheduling of concentrated synthetic 7-OH.

The Global Kratom Coalition today welcomed Lafayette County Metro Narcotics’ updated statement distinguishing natural kratom leaf from manufactured, concentrated and chemically altered products like the “SMAX” synthetic alkaloid products found at the scenes of the two tragic Ole Miss students’ deaths. The products found are not kratom products – they are dangerous synthetic novel opioids that have no place on store shelves across the country.

The agency correctly clarified that its initial public-safety warning following the tragic deaths of two University of Mississippi students “was not a declaration that kratom or any specific substance caused either death,” and that investigators will await autopsy and toxicology results before drawing conclusions.

Metro Narcotics also made an essential distinction lost in the public discussion: the difference between natural kratom leaf and highly concentrated synthetic alkaloid products that are at times fraudulently marketed under the kratom name. The agency noted that the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Aug. 26, 2026, Schedule I order targeted specific manufactured compounds: mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (MGPI), MGM-15 and MGM-16. It specifically did not target natural kratom leaf.

“Our hearts remain with the families and friends grieving these devastating losses,” said Matthew Lowe, Executive Director of the Global Kratom Coalition. “They deserve answers based on evidence, not premature speculation. We appreciate Metro Narcotics for making clear that toxicology must guide this investigation and for recognizing that traditional botanical kratom is fundamentally different from concentrated synthetic pressed tablets that were identified.”

The Global Kratom Coalition supports Metro Narcotics’ call for legislative hearings on concentrated synthetic 7-OH, MGPI, MGM-15 and MGM-16 and urges Mississippi lawmakers to strengthen state law accordingly. Mississippi should align with the federal government by scheduling these novel dangerous synthetic products already targeted by the DEA, including concentrated synthetic 7-OH, while avoiding a broad ban on natural kratom that would fail to address the products driving legitimate public-safety concerns.

“Law enforcement has identified the right problem and the right path forward,” Lowe added. “Mississippi can protect families by targeting the synthetic drugs being sold in tablets and other high-potency forms, holding bad actors accountable and ensuring state law aligns with federal law.”

The Lafayette County statement makes it clear that both deaths remain under investigation pending toxicology, distinguishes natural kratom leaf from novel synthetic products that masquerade as natural botanicals when they are anything but, and calls for legislative review in line with the scheduling actions taken by the DEA against MGPI, MGM15 & 16 and the pending scheduling of concentrated synthetic 7-OH products.

Latina-founded wellness brand introduces its U.S. portfolio featuring Myo- and D-Chiro-Inositol, Omega-3 and Marine Magnesium while bringing its “Hacks for Life” philosophy to American women

B-fit, a science-backed women’s wellness brand with Latin roots, is expanding its presence in the United States with a portfolio designed to make ingredient science more accessible, understandable and relevant to women’s everyday lives.

Created by women for women, B-fit is built around a simple belief: women’s wellness is not one-size-fits-all. From hormonal and metabolic wellness to energy, movement, rest and everyday wellbeing, the company develops supplements designed to accompany women’s evolving needs throughout different stages of life.

B-fit calls this approach its “Hacks for Life” philosophy—science translated into practical solutions for real life.

As the brand grows its U.S. presence, its initial portfolio will spotlight three increasingly relevant areas of women’s supplementation: inositol, omega-3 and magnesium.

A Closer Look at Inositol

One of B-fit’s hero categories is inositol, an ingredient that has received growing attention within women’s metabolic and reproductive wellness.

B-fit’s Just Inositol combines Myo-Inositol and D-Chiro-Inositol in a 40:1 ratio in an unflavored powder formulation. The brand’s Inositol Femme builds on that combination by incorporating Quatrefolic® active folate and N-acetylcysteine (NAC).

Myo-inositol and D-chiro inositol have been studied in connection with women’s metabolic and reproductive wellness, including research involving women with PCOS. For B-fit, however, the conversation extends beyond any single ingredient or condition. The brand’s goal is to help women better understand what is inside a formulation and the reasoning behind the ingredients they choose.

Omega-3 With Ingredient Transparency

B-fit applies the same philosophy to omega-3 supplementation by encouraging consumers to look beyond the words “fish oil” and understand the concentration of key fatty acids such as EPA and DHA.

According to company specifications, B-fit Smart Omega 3 provides 1,080 mg of EPA and 720 mg of DHA per serving, derived from salmon and fish oil and made with Epax-sourced omega-3.

The formulation reflects the company’s broader emphasis on ingredient transparency, sourcing and helping consumers understand what they are incorporating into their daily wellness routines.

A Marine-Sourced Approach to Magnesium

Completing the initial hero portfolio is B-fit Marine Magnesium, which uses magnesium of natural marine origin sourced from the French Mediterranean. The product is positioned as part of an everyday wellness routine supporting normal nervous-system and muscular function.

Together, the products represent the company’s approach to what it calls:

“Science Made for Women. Solutions Made for Real Life.”

“Women deserve to understand what they are putting into their bodies and why,” said Brenvita, Founder of B-fit. “Our goal with B-fit is to take the science behind women’s wellness and turn it into practical solutions women can actually understand and integrate into their lives.”

Latin Roots, Global Vision

While B-fit is proudly rooted in Latin heritage, its U.S. vision extends beyond any single demographic.

The company sees an important opportunity to build a meaningful connection with Latina women in the United States while simultaneously positioning B-fit as an inclusive women’s wellness brand for a broader American audience.

That distinction is central to the company’s expansion strategy: celebrating its Latin identity while recognizing that women’s wellness needs are diverse, individual and constantly evolving.

B-fit enters this next stage with an established digital community. Company materials report approximately 260,000 Instagram followers around the B-fit community, while founder Brenvita’s social platforms reach audiences in the millions.

As the brand expands its U.S. footprint, B-fit plans to combine product education, wellness experiences, community activations and creator partnerships to introduce more women to its approach to everyday wellness.
